Could the Chilean international one day lad Arsenal out at The Emirates.
In recent weeks Arsenal's struggles have been papered over by the incredible performances of summer signing Alexis Sanchez.
The Chilean has been in top form since arriving from Barcelona in the summer. Last night he scored again, his 11th goal in 13 games for the club and it is fair to say, Arsenal fans have found themselves a new hero.
So it begs the question ... could Alexis become the Arsenal captain?
Mikel Arteta currently fulfils the role with Per Mertesacker his deputy. But if you were to ask an outsider looking in who plays like a captain, Alexis would surely be the answer.
Obviously now is not the right time. He has only just arrived and does not yet speak the language well enough to lead the team, even if his actions are certainly speaking any louder than many would have expected.
His tireless attitude and dog-like determination inspires the fans who would love for him to receive the armband one day.
Off of the pitch he is also a fine role model. You will rarely see Alexis getting into trouble off the pitch these days.
But Arsenal fans will perhaps fear the armband going to Sanchez in the near future. In recent times the Arsenal captaincy has essentially been a prelude to an exit.
Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie, Thomas Vermalen. Fans would hate for Alexis, their new Arsenal hero, to be next.
