Former Arsenal player Ray Parlour has given his thoughts on the Gunners’ summer signing Alexis Sanchez.
The Chilean international has been in fine form since his move from Barcelona, with his brace against Burnley last weekend taking his goal-tally to 10 for the season.
Arsenal welcome Belgian side Anderlecht to the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening for their latest Champions League group match and Alexis will again be the key man for the Gunners as they look to secure back-to-back victories after their last-gasp win in October.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Parlour revealed his surprise at just how effective Alexis has been since he arrived at Arsenal.
“What an amazing player,” Parlour said. “I didn’t realise he’d be this good.
“I think he’s the nearest I’ve seen to (Luis) Suarez – the work-rate.”
Few would disagree with Parlour’s assertion that the Arsenal man is up there when it comes to working his proverbial socks off.
As much as Sanchez possesses innate talent, his effectiveness comes from the fact that he couples that ability with a tremendous and indefatigable work ethic.
In short, if the Arsenal star can keep this up for the long-term, there is no telling what Wenger’s side can go on to achieve.
