United morning news: January transfer window ‘very important’ with two priorities says ex-star

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Former Manchester United forward Louis Saha has been speaking about his old club’s current form and the areas they need to strengthen in the near future.

It will come as no surprise that the Frenchman said that central midfield and defence are the two key areas where United are still lacking.

In quotes published by the Sport Review, Saha said, “You could say the issues are at the back but it’s about balance, finding the right midfielder to keep the ball and a defender to be strong at a certain point of the game.

“What (Louis van Gaal) does in this window this winter will be very important for Manchester United.”

A whole host of players have been linked with a possible move to Old Trafford, but signing the right ones mid-way through the campaign will be a tough proposition for the Dutchman.

In other news, former United manager David Moyes has been linked with La Liga club Real Sociedad.

The Telegraph reports that Moyes is one of the favourites for the job as the Spanish side seek to replace Jagoba Arrasate, who was dismissed at the weekend.
