Real Madrid midfielder Isco evaluates Liverpool threat ahead of Champions League clash

Real Madrid midfielder Isco warns teammates Liverpool will prove to be a tough test for them.

Liverpool, on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United, will come up against a Real Madrid side that moved to the top of La Liga at the weekend following a 4-0 win over Granada.

However, Spanish international Isco warned teammates Liverpool are not to be underestimated due to their threat on the counter.

‘’It will be an important game that can win us the qualifying round,’’ Isco said in an interview with bwin.

‘’[In Liverpool] we play against a very tough and very good historical rival. Do not trust Liverpool because they can hurt you on any counter and any move.

‘’At the Bernabeu we have more options than Liverpool to win. In football any team can cause an upset, we have to take to the field with the same attitude and same determination we have done so far this season.

‘’The key is to continue as we are doing. The attitude we put into every game, either Anfield or Cornella. The key is attitude, approach each match as if it were the most important and, with that, I’m sure the titles and the results will come.’’

A first-half masterclass was enough to provide Real Madrid with all three points in October when the two sides met, and with that in mind, Liverpool supporters will dread the thought of what could happen to their low on confidence side when they take to the hallowed Santiago Bernabeu turf on Tuesday night.

Liverpool have beaten a 10-man Swansea, drawn with Hull and lost to Newcastle since their heavy defeat to Real Madrid and with back-to-back wins before the Real Madrid match, it could be pointed out as the game that really destroyed the confidence of Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Real Madrid, however, are in their best form of the season – winning their last 11 matches and haven’t scored less than three goals in a game since 1st October.

Going on recent form, many have predicted it will be lambs to the slaughter for Brendan Rodgers’ side, but as Isco says: Liverpool on their day can hurt any team. And, if they are to get anything from the game, will need to show that quality on Tuesday night.
