Scotland fans react on Twitter to Macleod's call-up - 'Delighted for him'

We compile the best reaction from Scotland fans to Rangers midfielder Lewis Macleod's call-up to the squad.

Rangers youngster Lewis Macleod's dramatic rise to prominence was capped off today as he was handed his first Scotland call-up for their upcoming fixtures against the Republic or Ireland and England.

Scotland take on Ireland in a crucial European qualifier later this month before playing in what is sure to be a hotly contested friendly against England a week later.

It is a show of faith from Gordon Strachan in a player who has been earning rave-reviews for his performances in a Rangers shirt in recent times.

The 20-year-old has come through the Light Blues' youth-system and had a huge impact on their first-team, earning kind words off a number of sources.

Teammates, pundits and opposition players have been dazzled by Macleod's ability and this cap is reward for his performances.

The Rangers man is tipped to be one of Scotland's brightest prospect for some time, but there is still a feeling from some that this call-up has come too early.

Macleod is still only playing at the Scottish Championship level and there are some high-profile names who have been left out by Strachan so he could be included.

Rangers fans, though, are nearly unanimous in their support of the youngster and they feel that he can make a positive impression - even at a higher level than he is used to playing at.

Here is some of the best reaction to Macleod's call-up on Twitter.
