Newcastle defender Steven Taylor believes that their pace scares oppositions teams.
Steven Taylor says that the pace in the Newcastle United squad scares opposition teams.
The Magpies have the likes of Rolando Aarons, Gabriel Obertan and Sammy Ameobi who are all threats on the counter-attack and Taylor thinks that the speed the side have is a real weapon.
Alan Pardew has set the team up to hit teams on the break in recent weeks and it has worked to devastating effect.
The Magpies failed to win in their first seven league fixtures, but they have won their last three and Taylor thinks that anyone that faces Newcastle will be fearful of their speed-demons.
"We know we’ve got enough to hit teams going forward, and the pace that we possess is obviously scaring a few teams at the moment," he said to the Shields Gazette.
"We have got in and amongst teams, caused them problems and got the ball in the box, which is one thing we didn’t do early on."
Newcastle's new-found style has lifted them up the league after fears had emerged about the potential for relegation this season.
It had seemed that the side could be in-line for a season of struggle, but the winning run they have been on has lifted the pressure around St. James' Park.
The gathering momentum means that they are now a side full of confidence and they are looking up the table, rather than over their shoulders.
The North-East outfit's next game comes against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday and they will be hoping that the pace they posses will prove too much for the Baggies defence to handle.
