Making Harry Kane Tottenham Hotspur’s main striker could bring the best out of Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor

Roberto Soldado

Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor could step up their game if they realise that they are no longer guaranteed a place in Tottenham Hotspur’s starting line-up.

Harry Kane has been most in-form striker at Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks, and there have been growing calls for him to start more regularly in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old has been among the goals in the Europa League, the League Cup and the Premier League, while Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado both have struggled.

Kane’s emergence this season has flared up suggestions that Soldado could be sold next summer or maybe even in January, while Adebayor’s current contract runs out in June 2015.

However, could it be be that Kane’s form prompts both Soldado and Adebayor to raise their game?

If Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino drops the duo or even one of them, then it could just give them the push they need to step up.

At the moment, Soldado and Adebayor are ahead of Kane in the pecking order, but if Pochettino tinkers with his team, then he will be sending a stern message to the duo.

Sometimes players need to be given a reality check and made aware that they are irreplaceable. And that’s the message that needs to be sent out to Soldado and Adebayor.

And that eventually could see them start performing.
