Hull City manager Steve Bruce believes the absence of Nikica Jelavic through injury is having a detrimental impact on summer signing Abel Hernandez.

The former Palermo front-man had a great start to life at the Tigers but has looked out of sorts since the Croatian was ruled out.

In quotes published by the Hull Daily Mail, Bruce said, “Hernandez enjoys playing off someone and for us to ask him to play the number nine role, especially in a new country and league, he’s found it difficult in the last couple of games.”

That proves the importance of Jelavic, who could be back for Hull before the end of the month according to the latest prognosis.

In other news, Hull player Ahmed Elmohamady has been speaking about the disappointment of losing to Southampton last weekend and the build-up to their next match against Burnley.

In comments published by Hull’s official website, Elmohamady said, “We have to recover from last Saturday and get ready for the next game because it is a big one away at Burnley.”

Hull are currently 14th in the Premier League while this weekend’s opponents Burnley are bottom of the table with just four points from their first 10 matches.
