Everton latest: Youngster reveals which Toffees star he looks up to

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from Goodison Park...

Everton couldn't sneak past Swansea City on Saturday, with the Swans eeking out a 0-0 draw at Goodison Park, but it seems that the Toffees have finally stopped leaking so many goals.

At the other end of the pitch, Romelu Lukaku and Samuel Eto'o drew a blank, and it's clear that Roberto Martinez still wants third choice Arouna Kone in the picture.

The Ivorian has been out of action for around a year now through injury, and with fitness required, speculation had been linking him with a loan return to Levante, but Everton have reportedly made it clear that he will stay on Merseyside.

Elsewhere, midfielder Ryan Ledson is one of the most highly rated players coming through the ranks at Everton, and the 17-year-old has revealed that he is looking up to team mate James McCarthy as he continues to develop under Spaniard Martinez.

"We train sometimes with the first team but we always see the lads around the building and they are all good lads," said Ledson. "I probably look towards James McCarthy [most] – he's the same position as me, the same type of player. He’s brilliant. Last season he was probably one of our best players."

"The gaffer likes bringing young players through. He did it at Wigan and he’s doing it at Everton. It gives all the lads in the Under-21s a massive boost."

Finally, speculation continues to link Toffees boss Martinez with a switch to Inter Milan, with their manager Walter Mazzarri under increasing pressure at the San Siro.

However, it's former Everton boss David Moyes in the news today. The Scot has been out of work since leaving Manchester United in April, but La Liga side Real Sociedad are looking to take Moyes to Spain - only for reports to suggest that his wage demands will scupper the deal.
