Star Wars Starfighter

Three PlayStation 2 Star Wars titles are given ratings for Sony’s 7th gen console.

US games ratings board, ESRB is showing three classic PS2 Star Wars titles with PS3 ratings, suggesting that the games are to be re-released for the more recent console.

Ratings have been found for Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars Racer Revenge and Star Wars: Starfighter strongly hinting that the PlayStation store is to receive versions of the games for PS3.

The games in question provide a range of different Star Wars themed genres for fans to enjoy: Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005) is a movie tie-in for the third Star Wars prequel, Star Wars Racer Revenge (2002) is a pod racing title following on from Star Wars Episode I: Racer, while Star Wars: Star Fighter (2001) is an action game centred around the Battle of Naboo, with several different ships available to players as they fight to stop the planet being invaded.

Fans aching for some classic Star Wars games can now pick up digital copies of Star Wars: TIE Fighter Special Edition and Star Wars: X-Wing Special Edition via Good Old Games.

Those waiting in anticipation for the next gen outing of Star Wars in the shape of DICE’s return to the Star Wars Battlefront franchise can expect the new game to be out in the run up to Christmas next year, to fall in line with the release of Episode VII.
