Arsenal legend: If I was Harry Kane I'd be disappointed

White Hart Lane 6

Tottenham star now demands a starting spot, suggests Ian Wright.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes Harry Kane will have been disappointed to been left on the bench at the weekend, and the main reason is the poor displays of the strikers in front of him.

Kane came off the bench to score the winner away to Aston Villa, showing why he is a real fan favourite at White Hart Lane.

Wright is also a fan, and admits he is intrigued to watch the England under-21 international more.

He told BBC 5 Live's 606: "I'd like to see more of him. He's doing everything to get in starting line up.

"I'd be disappointed if I couldn't get in front of Soldado and Adebayor. They've got four goals between them. Surely he's got to get a chance now."

Wright inadvertently raises an interesting point, for the disappointment of being overlooked could have had an aspect on spurring Kane on to prove a point.

Even head coach Mauricio Pochettino conceded after the game he had to give him more Premier League starts, and this brings about a different mentality for the youngster.

Instead of having any frustration at his omission to use as motivation whenever he gets an opportunity, he will instead be the first choice and approach the games in a different manner.

If that was driving him on before, Kane will have to use the worry of losing his place as reason to kick on and succeed, and won't be able to feel hard done by any longer.

He has earned himself a run of games, and the only disappointment he will have to motivate himself will come if he fails to hit the back of the net - a rarity for the young striker so far this season.
