Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has been talking about his side’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.
Sergio Aguero scored the only goal of the game after Chris Smalling had been sent off for the visitors and Marcos Rojo had left the field injured.
As a result, United were forced to field Paddy McNair and Michael Carrick as a makeshift centre-back pairing for their biggest game of the season to date.
United had chances to secure a point but the reigning Premier League champions held firm and took a much needed three points following their own recent dip in form.
Speaking to United’s official website, Carrick said, “We feel that maybe we’ve left a goal out there and we are disappointed but not disheartened.”
United’s defeat means they are currently 10th in the table while City are third, six points behind leaders Chelsea.
United take on Crystal Palace at Old Trafford this weekend, before heading to the Emirates Stadium to take on Arsenal at the end of the month.
