United morning news: Teenager linked again after reported contract impasse and derby reaction

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

West Ham United’s Reece Oxford continues to be linked with a possible move to Manchester United, with the teenager reportedly no closer to agreeing a professional contract with the Hammers.

Oxford had been linked with United for some time and the 15-year-old is also said to be interesting the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea. But Sky Sports claims the player is still some way away from agreeing a deal at Upton Park which could be of considerable interest to Louis van Gaal if he wants to bring the youngster to Old Trafford.

In other news, Portuguese newspaper A Bola has picked up on reports that first circulated in the English press at the weekend.

The Daily Star claimed Anders Lindegaard could be on his way out of United, with Benfica a possible destination, but A Bola have nothing new to add to the story and one suspects that if there was any likelihood of a move going through in January they would have more to say than simply repeating the earlier claims.

And finally, the fallout from the Manchester derby continues, with the Manchester Evening News bringing together what many papers had to say about Manchester City’s 1-0 win against United on Sunday.

Penalty claims, Sergio Aguero’s continuing fine form and United’s drive despite being down to 10 men are all covered but ultimately the simple fact is City took the three points and United’s defensive woes continued.
