Liverpool will struggle in Madrid says Newcastle United star

Newcastle United forward Ayoze Perez doesn’t fancy Liverpool’s chances against Real Madrid.

Newcastle United forward Ayoze Perez believes Liverpool have no chance of getting a result against an in-form Real Madrid side in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The Magpies were the latest team to get the better of Brendan Rodgers’ side as Spanish U21 international Perez netted the winner in a 1-0 win over the Reds on Saturday.

The defeat was the Reds sixth of the season in all competitions and their confidence seems to be low heading into a key European clash against the holders.

Following defeats to Basel and Los Blancos at Anfield, the Merseysiders face the prospect of an early elimination from Europe’s elite competition and any sort of result in Madrid would be a huge positive.

Unfortunately for the Anfield outfit, their opponents are on a devastating 11-game winning streak and have scored an astonishing 46 goals during that period.

It is arguably the last game on earth the Reds will want to encounter right now, and Saturday’s thorn in their side Perez believes they have no chance of getting a result.

“Their [Liverpool] results are not good but they are a very good team and they treat the ball well. But at the Bernabeu it is very, very difficult to get something.” He said, quoted by the Spanish publication AS.

“I think with the level Real are at, they should not have much trouble with Liverpool. They’re heading for trouble, their confidence after those losses is not the same but this is the Champions League so watch out.”

Perez is familiar with the strength of Carlo Ancelotti’s side after watching them on numerous occasions during his stint at Spanish outfit Tenerife.

The Madrid giants were said to be interested in his services during the summer, but Perez instead opted to join Newcastle for a reported €2 million fee.
