Southampton midfielder Steven Davis has been talking about his teammates following their 1-0 victory against Hull City on Saturday.
A fantastic long-range strike from Victor Wanyama secured the win against the Tigers and ensured Southampton remained second in the Premier League table, just four points behind leaders Chelsea after 10 matches.
In comments later posted by the Saints' official Twitter feed, Davis said, "Victor has started well and so have the other midfielders. I just need to get some goals myself."
That is an interesting aspiration for the 29-year-old given that he has only found the net six times in 86 appearances for Southampton and is yet to score in 10 games this season.
But Ronald Koeman has clearly given renewed confidence to the players he inherited and those he signed in the summer, so there is no reason Davis cannot succeed in his individual ambition having seen so many of his teammates get on the score-sheet already this season.
