Arsenal legend Ian Wright says he wouldn’t play for the current title winning Manchester City side.
Wright was presenting 606 for BBC Radio 5Live last night, when he was asked whether he’d rather play for Manchester City or Manchester United.
“United under Fergie – without a doubt,” replied the ex-Arsenal striker.
However, Wright went onto explain that his first choice wouldn’t have involved either Manchester club, but another side in the North West, which will detract some of the pride away from Wright’s first answer.
“My first choice would be Shankly at Liverpool.”
Fergie’s United and Shankly’s Liverpool are considered to be two of the best sides in the history of English football, with both securing success and improving the profile of their respective clubs.
Wright was presenting the show as part of analysis for the BBC following the Manchester derby yesterday, which City won thanks to a lone goal from Sergio Aguero.
