Manchester United fans react on Twitter to Marcos Rojo injury - '#Warrior #Beast'

Marcos Rojo playing for Argentina

Manchester United fans have given their initial thoughts on the dislocated shoulder injury to defender Marcos Rojo.

Manchester United’s defeat to Manchester City was hard to take for several reasons.

Firstly, United fans have conceded bragging rights over their local rivals. Secondly, United controlled the game before Chris Smalling was sent off. Thirdly, Marcos Rojo suffered a dislocated shoulder injury which saw him carried off on a stretcher.

United have been plagued by injuries to defenders all season, which has exposed Louis van Gaal’s decision not so sign a central defender last summer, as key youngsters are now being trusted with the responsibility of trying to keep clean sheets at Old Trafford.

Rojo was seemingly drafted in as cover at left-back, but he started the season ahead of Luke Shaw in the pecking order, with the signing from Southampton lacking match fitness at the start of the season.

He was then moved into the middle of the defence after United signed Daley Blind, which seems to have created an opportunity for the Argentine to consolidate in the middle of the back four as the Dutchman can play left-back if needed.

This injury setback has come at a time when Rojo was just starting to make Nemanja Vidic’s old position in the side his own, causing further disruption for United’s defence looking ahead to the match against Crystal Palace.

Fortunately, as far as United are concerned, they have two weeks to rest after the Palace game due to the international break.

Following the international games, the stakes are raised as United take on Arsenal, a side well equipped to take advantage of an inexperienced and vulnerable back four unless LvG finds a way to cope without Rojo.

It’s looking more and more likely that there is one position United will definitely add a player to their squad this winter.

Here’s what United fans on Twitter had to say about Rojo’s injury setback.
