Liverpool morning news: Henderson on Real opportunity, Reds scout Dele Alli

A round up of news stories this morning about Liverpool.

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has targeted the matches against Real Madrid and Chelsea as chances for the Reds to improve.

Liverpool have been inconsistent recently and head into the game against Real off the back of a defeat at the hands of Newcastle United.

“They are two big games, two games to show that we can score goals and defend better,” he told Sky Sports News.

Liverpool scouts were reportedly present at the MK Dons match against Swindon over the weekend.

They were reportedly keeping tabs on apparent transfer target Dele Alli.

Alli grabbed a crucial goal in the 2-1 win for the League One side.

Brendan Rodgers says his desire to retain Steven Gerrard beyond this season is based on logic.

Rodgers has dismissed notions that he’s requested a new deal for the captain out of sentiment rather than sense.

“It's certainly not sentimental. As a manager, you can't afford to do that. I just look at his contribution in the two-and-a-half years I've been here,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
