Arsenal latest: Rivals for defensive target; opponent can learn from Alexis

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Emirates Stadium…

Reported Arsenal target and current Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk is now said to be interesting Spanish side Sevilla.

Inside Futbol has picked up on claims from Spanish newspaper El Desmarque that the La Liga side are willing to pay between €10 and €15million for the Dutch defender.

Van Dijk’s versatility and experience are such that Arsenal would be wise to make their move, but if he does leave Celtic – and it is a big if – it now appears the Gunners will not have a clear run at him.

In other news, Burnley manager Sean Dyche has said his striker Danny Ings can learn a lot from Alexis Sanchez.

Arsenal’s Chilean international played a huge role in Saturday’s victory, scoring two goals in the 3-0 win against the recently-promoted side. And in comments published by the Burnley Express, Dyche said his own player could learn a lot from the former Barcelona man.

“His movement, his energy, I said to Ings afterwards, ‘That’s part of your development, to play like that’, because he was non-stop,” Dyche said.
