Newcastle United midfielder Mehdi Abeid says that the side's strength was part of the reason they were able to topple Liverpool on Saturday.
The Magpies picked up their fourth win in succession by beating Brendan Rodgers' side 1-0 and Abeid feels that it was because they were able to impose themselves on the match.
Abeid, a midfield enforcer himself, felt that the Magpies dominance physically meant that they were able to play some nice football during the game and it was a key part in their success.
“The quality of our strength was unbelievable," he said to the Chronicle.
“We played some good football, we have that confidence. We played our football and we are happy with that."
“We had a great win and that’s four wins in a row so we have to keep it that way and look forward to the next couple of games.”
The winning run the club have been on has marked a major turnaround after their start to the season.
The atmosphere around the club after their start, where they failed to win any of their first seven league matches, was toxic, but all the pressure appears to have been lifted now.
In a run which has seen them beat Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City as well as Liverpool, the side have shown their offensive quality as well as their strong character.
The pace of the team on the break has been a major weapon, but they have also proven to be a tough side to break down.
Confidence at St. James' Park is now starting to grow and the hope is that they will be able to continue this impressive run of form for as long as possible.
The Magpies' next match comes against West Bromwich Albion and it looks a presentable opportunity for the side to add to their points tally for the season so far.
