The bright early season form of Etienne Capoue appears to have stalled considerably.
Tottenham Hotspur sneaked a narrow win over Aston Villa at the weekend, but it was far from straightforward.
The team selection of head coach Mauricio Pochettino caused plenty of debate with fan favourite Harry Kane left out, who came on to score the eventual winner, via a deflection.
There are a number of players however failing to deliver, and one who seemed a real passenger in the game was Etienne Capoue.
The Frenchman started the season in excellent form, but his performance levels have dipped over the past month.
Against Aston Villa he recorded the lowest pass completion percentage he has done in any game all season.
|Match||Won Tackles||Interceptions||Passing Accuracy|
|Etienne Capoue||Aston Villa vs Tottenham||1||2||79%|
Substituted with 19 minutes to go, Capoue's pass completion rate of 78 per cent ranks well below his season average of 88 per cent.

It was not just the below par passing, Capoue failed to impose himself in any way upon the match, with the influence he exerted in early matches on the wane.
It is not like Tottenham are short of options in the middle, with both Moussa Dembele and new signing Benjamin Stambouli sitting on the bench.
He has not suddenly become a bad player overnight but the Villa game appeared to be his worst of the season to date, and a rest may be what he needs to regain his focus and form.
