Richard Keys comments on Manchester United’s ‘expensive squad’ ahead of Premier League clash v Manchester City

Angry Louis van Gaal

Former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys highlights two key points about the current Manchester United squad.

Renowned sports presenter Richard Keys appears to mock Manchester United ahead of today’s Manchester derby.

The former Sky Sports presenter points out that despite the Red Devils’ claim of building teams and earning success, most of their current first-team regulars are expensive signings.

On Sunday morning, Keys took to social networking site Twitter to also underline United’s disappointing start to the 2014-15 Premier League season under Louis van Gaal.

United have made a truly disappointing start to the season and will head into today’s clash against Manchester City placed eighth in the league table with 13 points from nine matches.

Van Gaal’s team are four points behind fourth-placed Arsenal and 13 points off the pace, with their defence still looking vulnerable.

The Manchester outfit made a number of big-name signings in the summer, recruiting the likes of Angel di Maria, Radamel Falcao and Daley Blind among others.

However, it cannot be ignored that United needed to make the signings that they did. Last season’s disaster exposed the weakness of the squad, with many first-team players either past their prime or simply not good enough to play for one of the world’s biggest clubs.
