Italian site TMW claims Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a winter move for Bayern Munich star Xherdan Shaqiri.
Shaqiri has previously been linked strongly with a move to Liverpool but TMW claim it’s Spurs who are engineering themselves into a position where they can add a top quality player to their squad.
Tottenham are well stocked in terms of midfield options though they could use extra pace, quality and skill on the ball down either flank.
Aaron Lennon, Nacer Chadli and Andros Townsend all provide good options out wide but Shaqiri could inject some real potency out wide for Spurs, as they aim for a Champions League place by the end of the campaign.
What Spurs will have to deal with is competition, not just potentially revitalised interest from Liverpool, but also from other European teams.
Shaqiri is a top class player, perhaps unfortunate not to have received more chances at Bayern Munich under Pep Guardiola, but their loss is another side’s gain and Tottenham deserve credit for appearing to try and give themselves an edge ahead of the winter window.
