The look on the Reds boss's face said it all on Saturday.
Hosts Newcastle United, however, had just secured their fourth win in a row in all competitions, prompting wild celebrations and signs from supporters that read 'Pardew back from the dead.'
And the Newcastle boss was confident his side's 1-0 victory was always going to be a possibility.
"I am not saying I saw the wins coming but I knew there was talent," Pardew told BBC Sport.
"When it does not go well, they (the fans) let you know and, when it is going well, they let you know. You take the good with the bad."
Meanwhile, Rodgers said: "It's not working for us at the moment. We will continue to hope we get that wee bit of luck and the confidence in final third can return.
"We made a mistake and that cost us the game. That's the biggest disappointment. If you can't score the goals to win the game, you have to make sure you don't concede."
