Sir Alex Ferguson sought out Radamel Falcao ahead of Manchester United's clash with City.
The Colombian striker watched the game from the stands, missing a second successive game through injury, with the club's former manager also in attendance as a spectator.
The pair had to watch on in frustration as the Red Devils were defeated 1-0 through a second half Sergio Aguero goal.
Sir Alex is a known admirer of the striker, telling MUTV last month: "Falcao is the one we are waiting to see, he has fantastic goalscoring ability."
United are still to see the best of him, scoring once in three starts so far, missing him from the crunch games with Chelsea and Manchester City. Whether he would have made a difference in yesterday's derby, is open to debate.
