The Hull City loanee was the 'best Forest player on the pitch,' according to many supporters.
An upturn in fortunes could be just a result away - but not if performances continue as they are.
Forest's latest defeat came at the hands of the in-form Huddersfield Town. No matter how well the opposition are doing, however, losing 3-0 is never good enough.
"You can't concede goals like that so soon in the match," Pearce told BBC Sport after the game.
"We created opportunities in the game - we could have been more clinical with our forward play - but I think defensively we shipped too many cheap goals.
"It's eroded the team's confidence a little bit and we have to solve that."
But there did appear to be one positive, according to Nottingham Forest fans, in the performance of debutant Tom Ince. The Hull winger has joined Pearce's men on an emergency loan and impressed supporters during his first game for the side.
The Tigers man has worked with Pearce before during his time with the England Under-21 side and Forest fans will be hoping he can inspire his team-mates to greater heights at the City Ground.
Here are the best reactions on Twitter to the 22-year-old's debut!
Saw enough of ince in the first half today to see he will be a quality loan signing, shame there's only 9 games left #nffc— 'The Modfather' (@gilesta) November 1, 2014
FWIW Ince was the best player on the pitch today....and I'd be happy if fox & lascelles never wore an #nffc shirt again. Woeful.— Elliott Stanley (@elliott_stanley) November 1, 2014
