Joe Hart 7 - fortunate to stay out of the book having been seen squaring up to referee Michael Oliver, but made a smart save from Marouane Fellaini late on to keep United at bay.
Pablo Zabaleta 7 - kept Angel Di Maria quiet, but was lucky to avoid a red card after a few dicey challenges.
Vincent Kompany 8 - had a difficult 10-15 minute spell in the second half, but was the leader in the City backline when things got tough.
Martin Demichelis 8 - excellent display from the Argentine, who broke up play well and even ventured forward to spring attacks.
Jesus Navas 6 - often got into good positions but had very little end product as Luke Shaw fared well up against him.
Fernando 7 - was slow to get into the game, but played a superb ball for Aguero in the first half before breaking up play well in the second period.
Yaya Toure 9 - finally back to his best. Much like Fernando, he took time to impose himself on the game, but was then back to the creative, powerful and dominant midfielder we've come to expect.
James Milner 8 - having a great season so far, and today was another example. Worked hard in an unfamiliar role on the left, but made the darting run for Smalling's red card.
Stevan Jovetic 6 - worked hard to make things happen in the final third but nothing really came off for him.
Sergio Aguero 8 - The matchwinner with the only goal, Aguero had a number of chances and caused plenty of problems throughout.
Samir Nasri 6 - came on with 20 minutes to play but didn't really get involved much.
Edin Dzeko 6 - had a chance to seal the game late on but dithered in possession.
Fernandinho n/a - come on with just seven minutes left and didn't have much of an impact.
