You would think Mauricio Pochettino would have learned by now...
Spurs failed to start Kane last week against Newcastle United, a game they lost 2-1, before starting the 21-year-old in the Capital One Cup against Brighton.
Naturally, Kane scored that day. And, naturally, Pochettino didn't start him again today.
Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado were preferred and were, quite frankly, hopeless in front of goal as they failed to break down the Aston Villa back line.
And former Spurs & England striker Gary Lineker took to Twitter with a blunt assessment of Pochettino's decision to bench Tottenham's leading striker this season.
Harry Kane must be pissed off watching this.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) November 2, 2014
The Spurs boss finally brought Kane on in the second half and, even though his free kick took a huge deflection, it was he who scored a late winner as Tottenham beat Villa 2-1.
Former Spurs chairman Alan Sugar also took to Twitter to insist Pochettino should start the 21-year-old next time out against Stoke City. But will Pochettino ever learn?
Well we didn't deserve that .but I hope MP realises Kane must start in future— Lord Sugar (@Lord_Sugar) November 2, 2014
