Tottenham Hotspur defender Federico Fazio has revealed Mauricio Pochettino was key in him moving to the North London club.
Fazio was drafted in as a defensive reinforcement from Sevilla last summer in a move, which raised a few eyebrows for some sections of Tottenham Hotspur supporters.
However, Fazio has suggested that Pochettino was key to the deal, as he looks to get his teeth into life at the club.
Fazio’s Premier League debut was definitely one to forget as he was shown a red card against Manchester City, conceding a penalty earlier in the game.
However, he seems determined to react and that’s a positive sign, with Pochettino likely to have played a key role in easing any doubts and worries the centre back has after that disappointing display away at the Etihad Stadium.
One of Pochettino’s best qualities is his man management skill and the way he talks with players to get the most out of them.
Fazio is perfectly right to suggest Spurs are one of the Premier League’s big boys, as they continue their search for Champions League football by the end of the season.
Things won’t be easy against Aston Villa later today, as Fazio will be looking to inject some grit and aggression into the back four when he eventually returns to the side.
Aston Villa are the Premier League’s worst side in terms of scoring goals this season so whichever set of defenders Pochettino goes with for the match should be confident of keeping a clean sheets and making the job of Harry Kane, Emmanuel Adebayor or Roberto Soldado a little easier.
