Everton fans react on Twitter to McCarthy performance v Swansea

Everton Goodison Aerial

James McCarthy put in yet another man of the match display yesterday.

Everton and Swansea City was a game that looked like it would have plenty of potential on paper, but in the end there were no goals for either fans to celebrate, as the game ended 0-0 at Goodison Park.

In general it was a disappointing game with the odd moment to get excited about, but for Everton fans the main reason for excitement was the performance of James McCarthy - yet again.

The Irish international was in fine fettle once again for Everton, covering every blade of grass in a dynamic performance. He was also the man hauled down by former Liverpool man Jonjo Shelvey which saw him sent off - much to the pleasure of the Everton supporters.

He has been putting in a string of good performances recently - justifying the amount Everton paid Wigan Athletic for his much coveted services last summer.

He travels around the pitch very well, rarely looking out of breath and rarely stopping - so there is no wonder why so many Everton fans were singing his praises after the game.

One tiny criticism. He should certainly try taking more shots on goal. the likes of Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard should be who he hopes to emulate - to do so he needs to score more goals.

Add that dimension to his game and the sky is the limit for McCarthy.
