Cesc Fabregas asked what attracted him to Chelsea

Former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has explained his decision to join Chelsea from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

Cesc Fabregas has been a Chelsea player since June, but discussions over his move from Barcelona continue.

The Spain international joined Barca from Arsenal in 2011, and many expected him to return to the Emirates Stadium in the summer transfer window when he was put up for sale.

However, Arsenal did not take up the offer and Fabregas eventually joined Chelsea for a reported transfer fee of £27 million.

Chelsea and Arsenal fans are still debating on whether the Blues were Fabregas’s first choice, and the midfielder has once again been asked to address the issue.

When asked by the Champions Magazine what attracted him to Chelsea, Fabregas said: ‘I felt valued when I spoke to the boss (Jose Mourinho).

‘Then you write the team down on a piece and you say: Wow, this is a great team. It made me think it would be good to come here and take up a new challenge’.

As much as Arsenal fans would like to disagree, the harsh truth is that Chelsea are a much better team than the Gunners at this moment in time.

With the likes of Fabregas, Diego Costa and Filipe Luis added to the squad this summer, the Blues are one of the strongest teams in entire Europe.

For Fabregas, joining Chelsea also meant a return to London for Fabregas, who loves the city.

‘I never completely left London’, said the 27-year-old. ‘Whenever I had two or three days left, I would come here. I have amazing memories from this city and consider my second home’.

It seems that Fabregas and Chelsea are a match made in heaven.
