Basel centre back Fabian Schar has admitted his interest in a move to England.
Basel have kickstarted the careers of a number of fine players in recent years, including Yann Sommer, Granit Xhaka, Valentin Stocker and Xherdan Shaqiri, and they have another star on their hands.
Centre back Fabian Schar, 22, has been impressive for the Swiss giants during the last year, earning a place in Switzerland's World Cup squad in Brazil this summer.
With nine goals in 54 games, Schar has earned a reputation for not only being a promising defender, but also for his threat in front of goal.
His performances for Basel have led to reported interest from the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United, and now Schar has admitted that he would be interested in a move to the Premier League.
"Basel are open to negotiations, but at this moment I have decided that I want to concentrate on my performances," he says in the interview," said Schar. "I went through a difficult period and it wasn't the right time to discuss my renewal. I don't want to be worrying about that now."
"My dream remains to have an experience abroad. I've always said that if the opportunity presented itself, I would take it, obviously in agreement with Basel. I need a team with important prospects. I'd like the Bundesliga, Premier League or top Italian clubs like Inter, Milan and Juventus," added Schar.
Arsenal are in desperate need of depth at centre back having failed to replace Thomas Vermaelen after his £15m move to Barcelona, whilst Manchester United are still lacking in the centre of their defence even after the signing of Marcos Rojo.
Schar's admission is likely to stir up even more interest in his services, with the January transfer window nearing - and both Arsenal and United figure to be monitoring him.
