9 take-ons, 7 shots: £35m Arsenal star superb v Burnley

Alexis Sanchez Chile

Alexis Sanchez starred as Arsenal overcame Burnley 3-0 in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Arsene Wenger secured the services of former Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez during the summer window, much to the delight of the Emirates faithful. Having fallen out of favour at the Camp Nou, despite an impressive World Cup showing, the Chilean international joined Arsenal for a reported transfer fee of £35 million.

Considered one of the most exciting attacking players in world football, Sanchez made over 100 appearances in all competitions for the Catalan giants, scoring 43 goals in three seasons. Thankfully the Premier League fans, he has continued this fine form in North London.

On Saturday, in Arsenal's 3-0 victory over newly-promoted Burnley, we witnessed yet another mesmerising performance from the 25-year-old who, as the statistics suggest, had been knocking at the door all game before bagging a late brace for the hosts.

The Chilean international was by far and away Arsenal’s best player, opening the scoring with a header, before adding the Gunners' third - his second - in the final stages of the match.

Even prior to his goal, he looked the most likely to break the deadlock with his work rate proving an inspiration to his teammates.

Alexis recorded 87 touches, while completing an extremely impressive nine, of 13, attempted dribbles - more than any other involved in this game. Nonetheless, his passing will have disappointed, as he completed just 72.6% of his attempts to find a team-mate.

Playing for the entire 90 minutes, he impressed in the final third, posing a consistent threat to the Burnley back-four. The Chilean managed seven attempts at goal, five of which were on target. He also fashioned a further three key passes.

He contributed from a defensive perspective, too, making one tackle, one interception and one block.

It was another fine display from Arsenal's marquee summer signing, who is fast becoming the club's most dependable player.
