The Argentine is ready to take his recent cup form into the Premier League.
They have won their past two outside of league action - Asteras Tripolis and Brighton the victims in the Europa League and Capital One Cup respectively.
But they have lost their previous two Premier League ties and sit in 12th position, after a mixed start to the campaign.
One player who has been pivotal to that cup form has been Erik Lamela. He scored against both Brighton and Asteras and certainly shows his best form away from league action.
He has been speaking to the official Tottenham Hotspur website about the game this weekend with Aston Villa. And Lamela knows that cup form needs to be translated into the league.
“After Wednesday we are looking good in the Capital One Cup and we are doing well in the Europa League – now we need to change our position in the Premier League. We know what we have to do and we are trying and working towards this. Aston Villa will be a difficult match but we know we are capable of winning. We have won or drawn most of our away matches and we want to get the three points on Sunday.”
If Lamela can produce some of his cup form in the league, then Tottenham should be back to winning ways shortly.
