Louis van Gaal said he would give his Manchester United players a chance to prove themselves when he was first unveiled as the man who was replacing David Moyes.
He gave them that chance and when things didn’t work out he reacted, with some big name signings in the transfer window, which have given the United attack and impressive fresh look.
The Daily Mail created the above picture to demonstrate just how much van Gaal has ripped up the side created by David Moyes and the spine of the team which won Sir Alex Ferguson’s final Premier League title at the club.
Whether that’s enough to guarantee United a place in the top four by the end of the season remains to be seen, but he deserves praise and credit for taking the initiative and trying to find a way to release the constant pressure attached to the club.
United will be considered underdogs heading into the game against Manchester City tomorrow but the team van Gaal has created arguably has a better chance of a win than the team of last season.
