Michael Owen looks ahead to the Premier League clash between Newcastle United and Liverpool at St. James’ Park.

Michael Owen believes that today’s Premier League clash between Newcastle United and Liverpool will end in a draw.

‘Two of my old clubs’ in opposition at St James’s Park and great to see the Magpies and their supporters in such good form of late’, the 34-year-old wrote on Betvictor.com.

‘Liverpool have not been at their best so far this season with their win at Spurs the only time they have scaled the heights they consistently reached last season’.

‘Michael’s recommendation: Draw at 11/4 with BetVictor’, read a footnote.

Owen played for both Newcastle and Liverpool, although his best football was at Anfield. That is unlikely to have affected the former England international prediction, though, which based on current form could well come true.

Heading into this weekend’s round of matches, Newcastle find themselves 14th in the Premier League table with 10 points from nine matches, while Liverpool are four points ahead of them in seventh.

Alan Pardew’s Newcastle have started to pick up momentum in recent weeks, having struggled in the Premier League until last month. The Magpies have won their last three competitive games, including two league fixtures.

Liverpool have also made a stuttering start to the season, but they returned to winning ways on Tuesday when they got the better of Swansea City 2-1 at Anfield in the fourth round of the League Cup.
