The midfielder was seen as Leeds' only positive by many supporters on Saturday afternoon.
And, as far as many supporters were concerned, there was only one positive from the game: the performance of young midfielder Alex Mowatt.
The 49-year-old reflected on his appointment and also his first game in full charge of the side.
"I spoke to Massimo and we talked about things going forward, which was a key point for me," Redfearn told BBC Sport after the game.
"I asked if he sees me as the future and he said he does, which is great for me.
"It was not a dazzling performance but for an hour it was a good away performance. But that period after half-time was where the damage was done."
Redfearn also admitted that he thought the Yorkshire side could get something from the game after Mowatt pulled a goal back for Leeds, only for the Bluebirds to then add a third to their tally.
There was no doubting the quality of the 19-year-old's display, however, as plenty of Leeds fans could tell you after the game on Twitter...
Alex Mowatt the prime example of giving young players first team experience. Looks better than last season already. Patience. #lufc— LUFC Tommy D (@tdski_LUFC) November 1, 2014
If we'd started with 5 Stephen Warnock's and 6 Alex Mowatt's... We might have won! #lufc— Jack (@EllandReports) November 1, 2014
Centre backs, hang your heads. Forwards, where did you go? Alex Mowatt, take a bow. That's pretty much this afternoon.— Adam J (@Ken_DeMange) November 1, 2014
