Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher got into a spat with a Manchester City fan over Twitter, debating why Marcos Lopes wasn’t in the side for the League Cup defeat against Newcastle United.
The answer Carragher and the fan overlooked; he’s actually on loan at Lille.
The argument started when Carragher questioned why they didn’t play against Newcastle, with the suggestion that City’s second string should be good enough to get a result against a weakened Newcastle team at home.
Several fans weighed in on the discussion suggesting City’s choice to apparently not select Lopes, along with other youngsters, was based around their desire to try and win the League Cup.
Regardless of the apparent cock-up from all parties involved with regards to Lopes, City still stand a great chance of success in the Premier League and potentially the FA Cup.
The side’s Champions League chances are hanging by a thread and there could be some appearances for the youngsters in question if a last 16 place is out of reach after this week.
