Two former Blackburn Rovers managers go head to head today as Mark Hughes' Stoke face Sam Allardyce's West Ham at the Britannia Stadium.

Hosts Stoke have been wildly inconsistent so far this season, defeating Manchester City, Newcastle and Swansea City but losing to the likes of Aston Villa, Leicester and Sunderland.

Today, the Potters need to bounce back from two successive defeats to Southampton in the Premier League and Capital One Cup, but will have to do so without suspended duo Phil Bardsley and Peter Crouch.

They come up against a West Ham side which has made a stunning start to the season. Allardyce's men have won five of their first nine games, including home victories over Liverpool and Manchester City.

Currently in fourth place, the Hammers are full of confidence ahead of this afternoon's game, and another win will take them into third place - at least until Manchester City play tomorrow.

However, they'll have to do it without star striker Diafra Sakho, who hasn't been passed fit enough to even take his place on the bench.
