The Magpies secured their third successive Premier League win against Brendan Rodgers' side - as well as their fourth in all competitions - thanks to a second-half strike from Ayoze Perez.
And it was in the second half that Newcastle really came into their own.
A mediocre first half saw both sides struggle to leave first gear. The difference was that the Reds were exactly the same after the break.
No one can blame Newcastle's players for making the most of the occasion, then, and that they did on social media after the game.
Second-half substitute Remy Cabella was delighted with a 'great win,' while injured forward Siem de Jong also tweeted.
Premier League debutant Mehdi Abeid took to Twitter, too, with the 22-year-old receiving heavy praise for his contribution.
Completing the set was Sammy Ameobi. What a turnaround it's been for the Magpies...
Another great team performance and 3 points on the board, fans were brilliant and kept the lads going… http://t.co/N06zfmIIf6— Samuel Ameobi (@Sammy_Ameobi) November 1, 2014
