Fiorentina plot contract to protect striking star from Arsenal

Fiorentina striker Khouma Babacar is turning heads with his goals in Serie A and the Viola want to prevent him heading elsewhere in the near future.

It has been a breakthrough season for Khouma Babacar who has continued his Serie B form in Serie A for Fiorentina and is now said to be on Arsenal and West Ham's radar.

Fiorentina are wary of their key men being poached by bigger clubs and have just had a nervy summer awaiting a bid for Juan Cuadrado which never came.

With Giuseppe Rossi and Mario Gomez spending long periods on the sidelines, Babacar has become a crucial asset and the Viola have no intention of letting him slip away just yet.

As reports circulate that Premier League giants are hovering, Fiorentina have entered contract renewal talks with Babacar and they look close to success.

Babacar has stated publicly that he will sign and the Corriere dello Sport reports that the deal is taking shape nicely.

Nonetheless, Babacar may be tempted by a big-money offer should it arrive because Fiorentina's wages are usually far more modest than the Premier League giants.
