Here are our Championship predictions for this week.
Norwich City v Bolton Wanderers
It’s difficult to see anything other than a home win in this game. Bolton are scrapping to get out of the bottom three but the home side should a bit too much for them this evening.
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Birmingham City
The memory of that 8-0 thrashing will still be in the minds of Birmingham and that should see them shut up shop and defend hard. However, Wolves have a decent attack and are chasing the lead.
Blackburn Rovers v Reading
Neither side have particular good defensive records so far this season, which suggests the match could be open and high scoring. It’s difficult to call but each side would probably be satisfied with a point.
Blackpool v Ipswich Town
Ipswich will fancy their chances against an attack which has scored only eight goals so far this season. Blackpool will need to be at the very top of their game to get anything from this match.
Brentford v Derby County
Derby will fancy their chances of staying top of the Championship. They will be well supported and have a great attack, which can make things difficult for the home side who are aiming for a play-off place.
Cardiff City v Leeds United
It’s a tough ask for Neil Redfearn and Leeds to get their first win since the last time he was in control of the first team. Cardiff have been inconsistent under Russell Slade and will be determined to nullify any threats from Leeds’ attack.
Charlton Athletic v Sheffield Wednesday
Three points separate these teams in the Championship and it’s a difficult match to call. Charlton have the better attack but the Owls have conceded just 11 goals all season which is a remarkable tally.
Huddersfield Town v Nottingham Forest
This is a very important game for Stuart Pearce’s Forest who have slid off the Championship pace and down to seventh in the table. They should be confident of an away win to get back into the play-off places.
Rotherham United v Middlesbrough
Rotherham have been difficult to play against at home this season, but Middlesbrough are one of the sides in and around the top of the table. This could be a case of two sides cancelling each other out.
Watford v Millwall
Watford will fancy their chances of becoming outright leaders in the Championship because only one side has a better attack this season. It’s difficult to see anything other than a big home win.
Wigan Athletic v Fulham
This is a battle between two sides just above the relegation places in the table. Fulham have the worse defence by some distance and that could see the home side sneak a tight and nervy game.
Bournemouth v Brighton and Hove Albion
Bournemouth will be high on confidence after the performance against Birmingham and their League Cup win earlier this week. Bournemouth have the best attack in the Championship so far this season.
