The 21-year-old marksman has stepped up to the plate with Fiorentina losing star strikers Giuseppe Rossi and Mario Gomez to injuries and he is showing the same devastating prowess he managed in Serie B with Modena.
Many pundits have tipped Babacar for the very top and Fiorentina are currently trying to tie him down to an extended contract to prevent him slipping away.
Inevitably, Babacar has won comparisons to Italian international striker Mario Balotelli, but the player's representative wants him to be evaluated in his own right.
"He has his own characteristics in terms of personality and technique.
"I won't compare him to Balotelli. Babacar has developed the right way, making his debut at 16 and then going to Serie B was a crucial step forward in his development. He has learned to be consistent.
"Babacar isn't the same as Balotelli - they are two different lads. He just focuses on getting better each week."
