The agent of Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin has moved to cool reports linking his client with a winter move to Liverpool, but admits that the right offer could see the Italian under-21 international depart I Rossoblu.
Perin, 21, has established himself as one of the top shot-stoppers in Serie A over the past two seasons, with his impressive form earning him a place in Cesare Prandelli’s World Cup squad this summer as the third-choice keeper behind Gianluigi Buffon and Salvatore Sirigu.
With Simon Mignolet’s form called into question in recent months, speculation remains rife that Brendan Rodgers will look to add competition for his incumbent starter in the coming transfer window, with 1 Koln’s Tim Horn said to be the Reds manager’s number one target.
Should a bid fail, however, then Perin is the man who reports claim the club will look to, but agent Matteo Rogini stresses that he has heard nothing from interested parties at this point.
‘It's a normal thing that he is named when a great club are looking for a goalkeeper, considering what Perin is doing, but these are just rumours,’ he told Calciomercato.
‘There have been no contacts with Liverpool and I think Mattia will stay at Genoa until the end of the season to continue to grow, this is also his will.
‘But in football everything can change: if someone were to make in January an undeniable offer, I cannot exclude his leaving.’
