Ronald Koeman reacts to Southampton’s win v Stoke City in League Cup

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman is delighted with his side’s victory over Stoke City away from home in the fourth round of the League Cup on Wednesday.

Southampton cannot stop winning at the moment; they simply cannot.

The Saints have been the surprise package in the Premier League so far this season and have stunned pretty much all neutrals.

Despite seeing a number of key players leave in the summer transfer window, including Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Ricki Lambert, Southampton have built on their last season’s success and are currently second in the league table.

On Wednesday, Ronald Koeman’s side knocked Stoke City out of the League Cup to book a place in the quarter-finals of the competition.

The Saints got the better of the Potters 3-2 at the Britannia Stadium in the fourth round, with star striker Graziano Pelle scoring twice.

It was the Italy international’s free kick on 88 minutes following Peter Crouch’s dismissal that saw Southampton pick up the win to continue their League Cup adventure.

Following the match, manager Koeman hailed the players’ ‘will to win’ and thanked the club’s fans for their support on social networking site Twitter.

Southampton will take on Sheffield United away from home in the quarter-finals of the League Cup in December.
