On this day: United want £25m Roma man, not Strootman; Ozil and Mourinho share a hug

Miralem Pjanic

On the 30th October 2013 what were the stories that dominated the football landscape? Including Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Let's cast our eyes back to this exact day, the 30th October 2014, but a year earlier.

What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?

Here are some of the big scoops from the 30th October 2013…

United want Pjanic

Manchester United were said to be eyeing up a £25 million move for AS Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic. The Bosnian international was being linked with several moves at the time but the report from The Telegraph suggested he was one of David Moyes' top targets at the club.

A year on and Pjanic is of course still at Roma - and it looks like he will be going nowhere in the near future after signing a new four-year deal in May of this year.

However they are after another Roma midfielder.

Kevin Strootman is said to be the number one target for United in the upcoming January transfer window although a similar success rate appears likely.

Ozil and Mourinho love

It was the day after Chelsea had beaten Arsenal 2-0 at The Emirates in the Capital One Cup and it emerged that Mesut Ozil had given his shirt to Jose Mourinho after the game.

Ozil was a big part of Mourinho's Real Madrid side, but had become ostracised since Carlo Ancelotti arrived in the Spanish capital.

However the respect shown between the pair highlighted the fact that Ozil and Mourinho remained close - sharing a hug as well as the gift of his match shirt.

Although it probably left a sting in the mouth of Arsene Wenger.
