A round up of news stories this morning about Manchester City.
Manchester City are sweating over the fitness of David Silva and Yaya Toure for the Manchester derby this weekend.
Both players limped out of the League Cup defeat to Newcastle United last night ahead of the important Premier League game.
“David has a problem with his knee and I don’t know how serious it is. Yaya was a little bit tired in his groin, so I didn’t want to risk him any longer,” said Manuel Pellegrini.
Pellegrini has revealed he thinks the side lack confidence due to a period of inconsistent results.
City have now suffered back-to-back defeats as they prepare for the game against United before the return of the Champions League next week.
“We must address this as soon as possible. We will try to react as soon as we can,” he said.
City defender Aleksandar Kolarov has stoked the fire ahead of the derby by suggesting that his side have been better than United for a number of years.
The last three seasons have seen the two Manchester clubs trade three Premier League titles between them.
“United has a great history but in the last five or six years, I think we have been superior to them,” said the defender.
