Five facts about Arsenal linked Cedric Soares

It is being suggested that Arsenal are eyeing Sporting Lisbon right-back Cedric Soares, so what do Gunners fans need to know about him?

The latest reports from the Daily Star suggest that Arsenal see Cedric Soares of Sporting Lisbon or Juventus's Stephan Lichtsteiner as potential right-back recruits.

Swiss international Lichtsteiner is in a contract wrangle with Juventus, but he may still agree to extend his deal with the Italian champions.

So, Soares of Portuguese side Sporting could be on Arsenal's transfer radar with Carl Jenkinson on loan to West Ham and Mathieu Debuchy out with a long-term injury.

Arsenal scouts have watched Soares on several occasions over the last few weeks and a deal may be possible.

Who is reported Arsenal target Soares:

1. Soares has been at Sporting Lisbon since 1999 and developed in their youth ranks.

2. There's a £7 million release clause in Soares' contract.

3. Soares has played for Portugal at every level since Under-16 and has two senior caps, but he was born in Gelsenkirchen in Germany.

4. David Moyes is a fan of Soares and reportedly attempted to sign him back when he was at Everton.

5. The right-back is only five foot seven and a half, so aerial battles may not be his forte.
