Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela has been reflecting on his side’s victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday.
The Premier League outfit got the better of their Championship opponents 2-0 at White Hart Lane in the fourth round of the League Cup.
It was Lamela who opened the scoring in the 54th minute, coming off the bench at half time to make the most of a Roberto Soldado pass.
It is to the struggling Spain international striker that Lamela is thankful for the goal and is quoted by Tottenham’s official website as saying: ‘Soldado passed it back to me for my goal – it was a very good assist.
‘I am happy with the finish. When I came on I knew I had to try to play the same as last week in the Europa League. We needed to attack but make sure we were tight in defence as well. Overall I am very happy because we won and we’ve continued in the cup’.
Lamela has an overall good game and will be looking to take that confidence into this weekend’s encounter against Aston Villa at Villa Park in the Premier League.
The £30 million signing from AS Roma in the summer of 2013 has blown hot and cold so far this season, but he will have to step up against the Villans on Sunday.
