Cole gets booed in Roma win

Roma beat Cesena 2-0 to become joint leaders of Serie A, but some sections of the crowd didn't give Ashley Cole a good reception.

Ashley Cole's time at Roma isn't going according to plan and the former Chelsea man was again jeered by the crowd at the Stadio Olimpico.

While Roma delivered the victory that was expected of them and moved level with Juventus after the Bianconeri were shocked by Genoa, it wasn't a good night on a personal level for Cole.

The pressure has been growing on the former England international since he was overrun by Arjen Robben during Roma's 7-1 loss to Bayern Munich.

And Cole was nervy and unconvincing against minnows Cesena, causing sections of the Roma faithful to heckle him.

The Italian press generally awarded him around 5/10 in their match ratings with some reports suggesting he was 'timid and listless'.

Cole's worst moment came when he lost Hugo Almeida, who could have gone on to score but didn't make the most of the chance.

There is still the very real possibility that Cole's Roma adventure could end in January if he continues to struggle and the supporters already seem to be losing patience.
